Editing an existing team

This article explains how to edit the name and details of an existing team.

After a team has been created, its name, purpose and colour can be changed.

How to edit an existing team

Create a new action

Navigate to the left-hand menu bar and click the Create action button. This will open the action creation panel on the right-hand side. Select Create new team from the Action Type dropdown menu.

Edit Team details

Complete the details of the Edit a team action.

  1. Give the action a title to describe the action you're about to take.
    โ€‹For example: "Adding Business Development to the Sales team"

  2. Select the team you want to edit.

  3. Change the team's name, purpose or colour.

  4. Select how the action will be taken by selecting a Decision method.

  5. You can also choose to enter a Description for the action. This allows you to provide more context to others about why you are editing the team details.

Confirm details and Edit team

If you are happy with all the new details for the team you can then click the Edit team button to initiate the transactions.

After signing all the required transactions in your wallet, the action will be created and depending on the decision method chosen, the team will either be updated, or the decision process will start.

Accessing your updated team

Once you have successfully edited your team it will be available on the Teams page.

Navigate to the left-hand menu bar and click the Members button.

Next click on the Teams menu item.

The Team filter at the top allows you to filter by the team and only see team-specific details.

Start using your updated team

With your edited team, you can continue using it to perform actions within your colony. Such as:

  • Transfer funds: Allows you to send funds to and from the team.

  • Payments: Use this feature to make payments to people you want to include in the team, allowing them to earn reputation within that team.

  • Permissions: To give permissions to people who you want to give distributed authority to in that team.
